Why Are My Eyebrows Uneven After Botox?
The short answer
Uneven brows after forehead toxin usually come down to placement. Treating mainly the middle of the forehead lowers the inner brow and lets the outer brow lift into an arch, while treating further out flattens the brow. A flatter brow can't easily be lifted, but an arched one can be softened with a little extra toxin, or the effect can be left to wear off.Founder and Medical Director • Last reviewed 19 October 2026
In brief
Key Takeaways
- 01Where forehead toxin is placed changes the shape of the eyebrows.
- 02Treating mostly the middle of the forehead lowers the inner brow and lets the outer brow lift.
- 03Treating further towards the outer forehead flattens the brow and reduces the arch.
- 04It is easier to flatten a raised brow with a little extra toxin than to lift a brow that has been flattened.
- 05Unwanted toxin effects are temporary and can take up to 4 months to wear off.
Dr Ed Robinson explains
The Detail
In this video I respond to a creator who had Botox two days earlier and noticed that one eyebrow seemed stuck down and the other stuck up.
You can see the asymmetry in her brows. If most of a forehead treatment is placed in the middle and not so much towards the sides, the inner part of the brow is lowered and the outer part lifts. On one side she has kept a good eyebrow arch, which is generally considered a feminine look. On the other side, the injector has treated further out, which has flattened the eyebrow.
What can be done. It is fairly easy to make the arched side look more like the flatter side, with a little extra toxin above that brow. It is much harder to raise a brow that has been flattened. So the options are a small corrective dose on the arched side, or waiting for the treatment to wear off.
Two days after treatment is also very early: toxin often kicks in unevenly. Your result is checked at a review appointment 2 to 4 weeks after treatment, when the toxin is fully working. Unwanted toxin effects are temporary. Most settle sooner, but they can take up to 4 months to wear off.
At your consultation we look at your brow shape and how your forehead moves, and plan placement around the look you want.

Edited from the video captions. The video opens with a clip of another person describing her result; only Dr Ed Robinson's words are included.
You can see the asymmetry in this creator's eyebrows following her Botox treatment. If the majority of this treatment is placed in the medial, so the middle part, and not so much in the lateral, then what you get is a lowering of the medial part of the brow and a lifting of the outer part. You can see on the right-hand side she has good preservation of her eyebrow arch, which is generally considered to be a feminine look. Whereas on the left-hand side, the injector has obviously treated her more laterally, so towards the outer part, and this has caused a flattening of the eyebrow. So it's actually quite easy to make the right-hand side look more like the left by flattening the brow, but it's pretty hard to raise the eyebrow on the left-hand side, which has been more affected. So, to answer her question, you can either make the right-hand side look more like the left with some extra toxin above that brow, or you can just wait 3 months for this to wear off.
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is one eyebrow higher than the other after Botox?
Usually because of where the toxin was placed. Treating the middle of the forehead more than the sides lets the outer brow lift, while treating further out flattens it.
Can uneven eyebrows after Botox be corrected?
An arched brow can usually be softened with a little extra toxin above it. A flattened brow is harder to lift, but the effect is temporary.
How long do uneven eyebrows last after Botox?
Toxin effects are temporary. Unwanted effects can take up to 4 months to wear off, and results are checked at a review 2 to 4 weeks after treatment.
