CQC Rated Good

Independent Recognition of Our Standards of Care

At Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics, providing safe, responsible and high-quality medical care has always been central to the way we work.

We are proud that following our first inspection since registering with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics has officially received an overall rating of Good.

The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Its role is to assess registered healthcare providers and ensure that people receive care that is safe, effective, compassionate and delivered to appropriate standards.

For our patients, this rating provides independent reassurance that the systems, people and clinical standards behind their care have been formally assessed.

CQC Rating: GOOD

What Did the CQC Find?

The CQC assessment looks beyond what patients see during an appointment. It considers how a healthcare service operates as a whole, including its leadership, governance, safety processes, staff development and approach to improving patient care.

Our overall service was rated Good, with the CQC highlighting a number of particularly strong areas within Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics.

Strong Governance and Clinical Oversight

Our Governance, Management and Sustainability assessment was rated Outstanding.

The CQC found that the service had clear responsibilities, accountability and strong governance systems in place to support high-quality, sustainable care.

Importantly, the report recognised that our approach goes beyond meeting regulatory requirements. It highlighted the way we use governance as part of continuous improvement, reviewing performance, emerging evidence, treatments and clinical processes to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.

The CQC also noted our use of independent audits, specialist clinical oversight and professional networks to provide additional challenge and assurance.

A Clear Patient-Focused Culture

Our Shared Direction and Culture assessment was also rated Outstanding.

The CQC recognised our focus on patient experience and outcomes, alongside an ethos centred on helping people feel better both physically and psychologically.

This includes considering whether treatment is genuinely appropriate. The assessment noted evidence of our team discussing non-invasive approaches and healthy lifestyle choices as alternatives to treatment where suitable.

For us, good aesthetic medicine is not simply about providing a procedure. It is about understanding the individual, considering the available options and recommending an approach that is appropriate for them.

Experienced and Supportive Leadership

The CQC highlighted the skills, knowledge and experience of our leadership team and described leaders within the service as inclusive, approachable and committed to the values of the practice.

The report also recognised the importance we place on developing our team. Staff are encouraged to continue learning and upskilling, while equipment, processes and treatments are regularly reviewed.

New treatments are not simply introduced because they are new. Our team considers emerging research and evidence, with appropriate training and clinical oversight forming part of how new technology and treatment options are introduced.

A Culture of Continuous Improvement

A CQC rating is an important independent assessment, but maintaining high standards is an ongoing process.

The report recognised a strong focus on learning, innovation and continuous improvement throughout Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics.

Our team actively reviews areas including:

  • Clinical policies and procedures
  • Patient safety and potential risks
  • Treatment protocols and outcomes
  • New research and developments within aesthetic medicine
  • Medicines and clinical processes
  • Staff training and professional development
  • Patient and team feedback
  • New technologies and treatment options

The CQC also noted that staff are encouraged to contribute ideas and that feedback is used to make meaningful improvements to systems, processes and the way care is delivered.

What Does a CQC Rating Mean for Patients?

Choosing an aesthetics provider can sometimes feel difficult. Treatments may look similar from one provider to another, but the standards and systems supporting those treatments can vary considerably.

CQC registration provides an additional level of independent oversight for the regulated healthcare services we provide.

Our Good rating reflects an external assessment of how our service operates, including the systems that patients may never directly see but which are fundamental to responsible medical care.

These include clinical governance, staff training, accountability, risk management, confidentiality, leadership and ongoing quality improvement.

It means that when you visit Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics, your treatment takes place within a healthcare environment where these standards form part of everyday practice.

Medical Aesthetics With Patient Care at Its Centre

Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics is led by Dr Ed Robinson, a GMC-registered doctor, supported by nurses, doctors, consultants and experienced aesthetic professionals.

While we are pleased to receive a Good CQC rating, some of the findings within the report are particularly meaningful to us because they reflect principles we have worked hard to build into the clinic.

The CQC recognised strong governance, inclusive leadership, staff development, continuous learning and a clear focus on the experience and outcomes of the people using our services.

These are not standards we intend to consider complete following an inspection. They remain part of how we assess, develop and improve the care we provide.
