BBL HEROic + HALO® TRIBRID™
Combining BBL HEROic with HALO® TRIBRID™ allows us to take a more comprehensive approach to improving skin tone, texture and overall skin quality. At Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics, we may recommend this combination when several concerns need to be addressed within the same personalised treatment plan.
BBL HEROic uses broadband light to target pigmentation, sun damage and redness, while HALO® TRIBRID™ works at different depths within the skin to improve texture and support collagen remodelling. Together, the technologies can address multiple signs of sun damage and skin ageing, helping to create clearer, smoother and more even-looking skin.

What conditions can BBL + HALO® TRIBRID™™ help with?
Pigmentation
Pigmentation can become more noticeable as a result of cumulative UV exposure, ageing and previous sun damage.
BBL HEROic uses broadband light to target unwanted pigment within the skin, while HALO® TRIBRID™ can provide additional fractional resurfacing. Together, they can help improve uneven pigmentation and create a clearer, more even-looking complexion.
Sun Damage
Sun damage rarely affects only one aspect of the skin. It can contribute to pigmentation, redness, rough texture, fine lines and changes in overall skin quality.
Combining BBL HEROic with HALO® TRIBRID™ allows us to target visible discolouration while also resurfacing the skin and stimulating renewal at different depths.
Fine Lines
As collagen production declines with age, fine lines and textural changes can become increasingly visible.
HALO® TRIBRID™ creates controlled fractional treatment zones within the skin, stimulating a healing response and progressive collagen remodelling. BBL HEROic can simultaneously address areas of pigmentation and redness that may contribute to an uneven or aged appearance.
Redness
BBL HEROic can target haemoglobin within visible superficial vessels, making it useful for selected areas of redness and vascular discolouration.
HALO® TRIBRID™ can then be used to address accompanying concerns such as uneven texture and signs of skin ageing where appropriate.
Enlarged Pores
Changes in skin texture and collagen support can make pores appear more noticeable.
HALO® TRIBRID™ can help improve the appearance of enlarged pores through fractional resurfacing and collagen remodelling, while BBL HEROic may be used to address accompanying pigmentation or redness.
Dull & Uneven Skin Tone
Roughness and uneven texture can develop through ageing, previous acne, environmental exposure and cumulative sun damage.
HALO® TRIBRID™ resurfaces the skin at different depths to encourage renewal, while BBL HEROic targets areas of unwanted colour. This makes combination treatment particularly useful where both tone and texture are concerns.
Uneven Skin Texture
Roughness and uneven texture can develop through ageing, previous acne, environmental exposure and cumulative sun damage.
HALO® TRIBRID™ resurfaces the skin at different depths to encourage renewal, while BBL HEROic targets areas of unwanted colour. This makes combination treatment particularly useful where both tone and texture are concerns.
BBL + HALO® TRIBRID™ Aftercare
What to Avoid
Following treatment, the skin needs time to recover. You will receive personalised aftercare advice, but this will typically include:
- Avoiding direct sun exposure
- Avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive sweating during the initial recovery period
- Avoiding swimming pools, saunas and steam rooms until the skin has recovered
- Temporarily stopping retinoids, exfoliating acids and other active skincare as advised
- Avoiding picking, rubbing or exfoliating peeling skin
- Wearing broad-spectrum SPF every day
Comfort u0026 Recovery Tips
Immediately after treatment, the skin may appear red and feel warm or sensitive. Mild swelling can also occur.
Pigmented areas treated with BBL HEROic may temporarily darken before gradually fading. Following HALO® TRIBRID™, you may also notice a bronzed or rough texture and tiny dark spots across the treated skin before natural flaking occurs.
The skin should be allowed to shed naturally rather than being picked or exfoliated. Gentle cleansing, appropriate moisturisation and careful sun protection are particularly important during recovery.
Downtime varies according to the treatment settings used, with more intensive combination treatments generally requiring a longer recovery period.
FAQs
For more general enquiries, please take a look at some of our frequently asked questions.
Why combine BBL HEROic and HALO® TRIBRID™?
The two technologies address different aspects of the skin.
BBL HEROic primarily targets visible pigmentation and redness using broadband light, while HALO® TRIBRID™ uses fractional laser energy to resurface the skin and stimulate renewal at different depths.
Combining them can be useful when concerns involve both uneven colour and changes in texture or skin quality.
What is the difference between BBL HEROic and HALO® TRIBRID™?
BBL HEROic is a broadband light treatment rather than a resurfacing laser. It targets specific chromophores within the skin and is commonly used for pigmentation, redness and visible sun damage.
HALO® TRIBRID™ is a fractional laser resurfacing treatment that combines three wavelengths to work at different depths. It is used for concerns including uneven texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, pigmentation and selected acne scars.
Do I need both BBL HEROic and HALO® TRIBRID™?
Not necessarily.
Some patients may have concerns that can be effectively addressed with BBL HEROic or HALO® TRIBRID™ alone. Combination treatment is generally considered when there is a reason to target both skin colour and texture.
Your skin will be assessed to determine whether one technology or a combination approach is more appropriate.
How many BBL + HALO® TRIBRID™ treatments will I need?
This varies according to your skin and the concerns being treated.
Some patients may achieve significant improvement following one combination treatment, while others may benefit from further treatments or ongoing maintenance. Your recommended treatment plan will be discussed following your skin assessment.
How long does it take to see results?
Some improvements in skin tone may become noticeable once the initial recovery period has passed.
Changes in texture and skin quality can continue to develop over the following weeks and months as the skin renews and collagen remodelling takes place.
How much downtime is there?
Downtime depends on the intensity of both treatments. Visible recovery following a combination treatment is typically around 5–7 days, although more intensive settings may require longer.
Redness, warmth, swelling, darkening of pigmentation, bronzing and flaking can occur during recovery.
Is BBL + HALO® TRIBRID™ painful?
Sensation varies throughout treatment.
BBL HEROic may feel like brief flashes of heat against the skin. A topical numbing cream may be applied for the HALO® TRIBRID™ stage, although warmth and prickling can still be experienced during treatment. Cooling is used where appropriate to help improve comfort.
Can BBL + HALO® TRIBRID™ be used on the body?
Yes. Depending on your concerns, combination treatment may be considered for areas including the neck, décolletage, hands and arms, as well as selected areas of the body.
Suitability will depend on the treatment area, skin type and concerns being addressed.
Can I have BBL + HALO® TRIBRID™ if I have a tan?
Treatment should not be carried out on heavily tanned or recently sun-exposed skin because this can increase the risk of unwanted pigmentation changes and other complications.
Recent sun exposure, tanning and upcoming holidays should be discussed during your consultation.
Is BBL + HALO® TRIBRID™ suitable for everyone?
No treatment is appropriate for everyone.
Your skin type, medical history, pigmentation, recent sun exposure and individual concerns will be assessed before treatment is recommended. In some cases, BBL HEROic or HALO® TRIBRID™ alone, or another treatment approach, may be more appropriate.
