How to look younger: ‘I’m a doctor: a daily product that is the best investment you can make for anti-ageing’

6 March 2025

GB News · Expert comment ·

In March 2025 GB News asked Dr Ed for his advice on how to look younger, and the single habit he considers the best investment for long-term anti-ageing.

What Dr Ed said

Dr Ed put prevention first.

“My first tip would be prevention is better than cure. Wear SPF daily from as early an age as possible. It is the best investment you can make for anti-ageing long-term.”

Dr Ed Robinson, speaking to GB News

He explained that good sun protection means people are likely to need less spent on other anti-ageing treatments later.

Clinical context

Ultraviolet exposure is responsible for much of the visible ageing seen on the face, including fine lines, pigmentation and loss of elasticity, which is why dermatologists and aesthetic doctors put sunscreen first. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, applied generously every morning and reapplied when outdoors, is the foundation. Retinoids and antioxidants can add to it. Questions patients ask

Do I need sunscreen in winter?

Yes. UVA, which contributes to ageing, is present all year round and passes through cloud.

What SPF should I use every day?

A broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher, applied generously, is a sensible daily choice for most people in the UK.
