Everything You Should Know About Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a highly effective treatment for rejuvenating your skin. They are perfect for entering the autumn months when your skin is in need of a healthy glow.
If you have an uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, sun damaged and blemished skin or acne scarring, a superficial chemical peel may help.
What does the treatment process involve?
A consultation is required before treatment, to assess your skin type.
The skin is cleaned using a special preparation solution to remove any excess oils.
A chemical solution is applied to the skin, which exfoliates the outermost layer.
This promotes cell turnover to reveal a fresh, youthful complexion.
The treatment is applied in 2 layers, monitoring for any skin reactions.
After the peel has been on for around 10 minutes, the face is cleaned to remove any excess product.
Aftercare is applied to reduce inflammation.
What are the benefits of chemical peels?
Chemical peels address various skin concerns and are safe and effective for all skin types and tones.
By removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores, chemical peels can help minimise the appearance of enlarged pores.
Chemical peels stimulate collagen production, resulting in firmer, smoother and more youthful-looking skin.
Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin tone, due to the growth of new skin cells.
Chemical peels leave your skin looking refined, smooth and glowy.
The exfoliation process helps to fade pigmentation and reduce the appearance of dark spots and sun damage.
Chemical peels are a quick procedure with minimal downtime.
Chemical peels can even be used for acne on the chest or back.
can chemical peels help with acne?
Chemical peeling treatments are an excellent option for managing acne. By unclogging pores, reducing inflammation and controlling excess oil production, the skin peel treatment reduces breakouts and also creates a clearer overall complexion.
what happens after a chemical peel?
You should gently cleanse your face with a soap-free cleanser and pat the skin dry with a towel. Also, ensure you are moisturising well.
You may notice peeling 2-4 days after the treatment. Picking or peeling your skin could result in bleeding, discolouration or even scarring. Do not peel!
Wear a high SPF sunscreen for at least 6 weeks post treatment. You should be wearing an SPF all-year round but ensure that you are particularly and avoiding direct sun exposure during this time.
